Serenity Studio, a full service Pilates and yoga studio recently opened in downtown Floyd right above the Floyd Country Store. The grand opening of the studio was on Feb. 16. Molly Brett, owner and instructor of Serenity Studio, donated all proceeds from the grand opening to New River Action Center. “I wanted to give the grand opening’s proceeds to the center because it was a form of karma yoga (yoga of action),” Brett said. “It was important to open my studio in this way because I want my studio to impact the community in a positive way. I want to create a studio where people can find more love and peace in their lives. It is important to live yoga, not just teach it.”
Currently Brett is the only instructor at Serenity Studio. She has been a certified yoga instructor for eight years, and started practicing yoga when she was 16 years old. Her certification is for both mat/prop and Pilate’s equipment. “I hope that within a few years I can begin to certify teachers in both yoga and Pilates,” Brett said. “I hope to have guest teachers and workshop leaders sooner than that.”
Serenity Studio is currently open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. “I feel it is important to offer people exercises that will help to cultivate love and also help to bring balance in our lives.” Brett said. “I look forward to sharing this space and my knowledge with the community.” If you have any questions about hours of operation or available classes, you can e-mail Molly Brett at serenity_symmetry@yahoo.com, or call her at 540.267.6906
