Black Water Loft in Floyd will be hosting a CD release party for Coriander’s new electronica CD on Oct. 26. This is her second album, which is particularly note worthy because Coriander will be celebrating her 13th birthday on the same day. The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. and is free.
When Coriander heard on National Public Radio about a new computer program called Garage Band, she begged her parents to get it for her. As a 9-year old, she taught herself how to use the program and started creating her first album, Spirit Webs, which took her two years to complete. It was released in 2005. In her new album, Black Light, Blue Frog Coriander said, “I incorporate some classical music, along with the techno and make it funky.”
Coriander describes her music as, “sort of house, techno-dance, electronic.” Samples of her music can be found at www.myspace.com/MusicCoriander. Coriander’s albums will be on sale for $10 each. The Black Water Loft is located at 117 S. Locust Street across from the Floyd County Store.
