Beginning Aug. 23, New River Community College will offer online courses covering several Microsoft Office applications. Classes will be available in Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, Word (intermediate and advanced), and Excel (intermediate and advanced). Each course runs through Dec. 10 and will be taught by Sharon Ruiz.

Access is a two-credit course that will teach first-time users how to make practical use of database management software using the basics of building databases and will cover specific business applications.

PowerPoint covers presentation software basics and introduces presentation options including slides and transparencies.

Intermediate Word builds on skills learned in Basic Word, presenting formatting and editing features of a word processing program. Advanced Word continues work with formatting features and text enhancements of a word processing program. Intermediate Excel and advanced Excel enhance students understanding and use of spreadsheet software.
Registration details are available from the Office of Workforce Development at 540.674.3600, ext. 4453 or by visiting http://www.nr.edu/workforce .
