Inside Voice: Mad Hatter Day Celebration on June 10

June 9th, 2010 · 3 Comments

If you’re like me, you lament the fact that hats aren’t in vogue the way they were in previous decades. Nowadays when people are tempted to buy a hat they adore, they immediately doubt their ability to “pull it off.” Well wait no longer; June 10 is officially Mad Hatter Day. It won’t matter if you look a little silly, because that’s the whole point!

From 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, a Mad Hatter Day Celebration will be held at the Coffee Depot in Christiansburg, Va. Hosted by the Freedom Foundation for Southwest Virginia as a fundraiser for the New River Voice, admission is a $20 donation and some kind of creative hat. Kids 15 and under will be admitted free. The donation entitles you to free coffee or tea, munchies, door(mouse) prizes, and entrance into the Mad Hatter Hat Contest! A limited number of hats will also be available for rent at the door.

This is a great way to come out and meet fellow New River Voice readers and support local nonprofit journalism. Please RSVP via our Facebook event, and we hope to see you there!

P.S. – If you can’t make it in person but want to be a part of the fun, you can always email us a photo of yourself wearing your favorite hat and make a $20 location using the Donate button in the top-right corner of this page!
