February 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

The Highlander Polar Plunge was sponsored by the Radford City Police Department, RU Dining Services, RU’s swimming and diving team and the RU Alumni Association. Photo courtesy of University RelationsJumping into the New River on a chilly, February day may seem a bit unusual, but that’s exactly what nearly 100 people did Saturday morning during Radford University’s inaugural Highlander Polar Plunge.

The polar plunge, part of Radford University’s rescheduled Centennial Homecoming 2010 festivities, gave RU students, alumni, friends and the entire campus community an opportunity to make a contribution of service as part of the university’s Centennial Service Challenge. All proceeds from the event, held in Radford’s Bisset Park, benefitted the Special Olympics.
