Floyd and surrounding counties hold a unique community of artisans skilled in the world of three dimensions. The Gallery Committee of The Jacksonville Center for the Arts invites all to participate in a special exhibit honoring 3-D works.
“Dimensional art includes so many things,” said committee member Jayn Avery. “Everything from personally designed furniture that combines the grace of hand carving with functional comfort, to fabrics whose textures reach out to touch the hand. Musical instruments can be works of art in themselves.”
Jewelry makers, sculptors, basket-weavers, blacksmiths, potters—all types of 3-D artisans —are encourage to submit their work for this spring exhibit.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 20. The show will be held March 19 - May 2, with a reception on March 27. In order to keep printing costs low, and thereby best utilize donations, the center has provided the application for download by artisans on the Web site at www.jacksonvillecenter.org. Those with limited computer access may request an application by calling .540.745.2784.
