H1N1 Vaccines Still Offered at Health Departments

The New River Health District (Virginia Department of Health) continues to offer H1N1 influenza vaccination at all area health departments and in numerous community locations.

“We want to remind everyone that we continue to offer free H1N1 flu vaccine, every day,” said Jody Hershey, Director of the New River Health District. “Vaccination remains the very best way to guard against future deaths and complications from influenza.”

The H1N1 vaccine is always free and is available during the week of Jan. 24, as follows:

During normal business hours, to all walk-in clients as well as those receiving any health department services: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

During scheduled H1N1 clinics:
Floyd County – Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1 to 5 p.m.
Giles County – Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1 to 5 p.m.
Montgomery County – Monday, Jan. 25, 1 to 5 p.m.
Pulaski County – Thursday, Jan. 28, 2 to 5:30 p.m.
Radford City – Monday, Jan. 25, 3 to 5 p.m.

During regularly scheduled WIC clinics (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children):
Montgomery County – Wednesday, Jan. 27, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 28, noon to 8:30 p.m.
Pulaski County – Tuesday, Jan. 26, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Monday, January 25:
•         Floyd RSVP (10-11 a.m.), Floyd United Methodist Church, 417 E. Main St., Floyd.
•         Pulaski Hensel Eckman YMCA (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.), 615 Oakhurst Ave., Pulaski.

Every Wednesday, Jan. 28 - March 31:
•         New Mt. Olive United Methodist Church (6-8 p.m.), Russell Ave., Radford.

Thursday, Jan. 29:
•         Floyd Friendship Café (9-12 p.m.), Zion Lutheran Church, 635  Needmore Lane NE, Floyd.

In addition, the New River Health District is working with local day cares, Head Starts, RSVP and Senior Centers, and Agency on Aging “friendship cafe” meal sites, to provide H1N1 vaccine at those locations. Please check with the directors at those sites to see if vaccine is available for your family members.
