The Town of Blacksburg announces the installation of new wayfinding signs in Downtown and at the entrance to Virginia Tech’s Corporate Research Center, the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Virginia Tech-Montgomery Executive Airport. The signs measure 3’ 2” by 5’ tall and will be mounted on the Washingtonian pedestal base featured by the light poles Downtown.
The information provided on these signs direct visitors to the Town’s many featured amenities, including: the Municipal Complex, Police Department, Library, Lyric Theatre, Virginia Tech, Squires Student Center, the Huckleberry Trail, and the new Farmer’s Market. These signs will also provide directions to nearby parking facilities.
Contractors will be installing these signs beginning Thursday, Jan. 14. The duration for this installation is anticipated to take two weeks. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during this installation.
“Blacksburg receives thousands of visitors attracted annually by Virginia Tech and a number of well-attended annual events,” said Assistant Director of Public Works Priscilla Cygielnik. “We hope these new signs will help visitors explore and enjoy the many great attributes of our great Town.”
