Ginny Weisz will make a formal announcement today of her candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates 8th District seat at 4:30 p.m. outside the Roanoke County Courthouse at 305 East Main Street in Salem.
Weisz will be introduced by Gena Doyle, Chair of the Salem Democratic Committee, and elected officials Roanoke County Sheriff Gerald Holt and Roanoke County Clerk of Circuit Court Steve McGraw.
The 8th District includes 10 Salem precincts and 20 Roanoke County precincts. She has been a registered nurse for 29 years and a state-licensed nurse practitioner for 15 years. She has been teaching nursing for the past 12 years. She is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Radford University, and has worked for all of the Health Departments in the Roanoke-Allegheny Region.
Weisz lives on Bent Mountain in Roanoke County and has lived in the Roanoke area since 1986. Her campaign priorities include health care, education, and putting representation of the 8th district above partisan concerns.
