We love food and have wanted to do more articles about tasty treats. And now, someone has stepped up to the, er, dinner plate to share some culinary delights with New River Voice readers on a weekly basis.
We’ve had the good fortune to get to know BHG.com Senior Food Editor Heather Morgan Shott, and we think she’s pretty cool—even if she does live in New York City. She does have a New River connection, though. Her husband, Chris, a writer in New York, was raised in Bluefield, West Virginia. (His dad, in fact, is running for the West Virginia House of Delegates, 24th District.)
Heather’s journalistic adventures have taken her on a culinary tour through the Greek Islands and Western coast of Turkey, d
og sledding and heli-skiing over the Swiss Alps, and jungle hiking in Belize.
She says she is totally obsessed with slow cookers, she never follows recipes, and she is all about gluten-free eating for a healthier, longer life. She’s also a twin, so we think this photo is of her, but who knows, it could be her sister. You know how those devious twins like to play tricks on the rest of us.
At any rate, here’s Heather talking about soup!
Nothing beats the winter chill like a steaming bowl of soup. Here are 27 fuss-free recipes filled with good-for-you veggies, fresh fish, hearty beef, and more. They are sure to keep you warm on a chilly day in the New River Valley.
See the recipes from BHG.com here!
And check in next week for another delicious batch of recipes from Heather!
