Tickets sales begin Monday, Oct. 6, for Radford University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts theatre and cinema department production of “On The Verge,” by playwright Eric Overmyer. Showtimes are October 10, at 8 p.m.; October 11, at 2 and 8 p.m.; October 15, at 10 a.m.; and October 16 – 18, at 8 p.m., in Pridemore Playhouse, Porterfield Hall.Directed by RU theatre professor Jennifer Juul, “On The Verge” features three Victorian ladies — Mary, Fanny and Alex — who embark on an unusual expedition which takes them to an unknown South Pacific area known only as “Terra Incognita.” Juul says, “This play is a witty and whimsical comedy about embracing the future. Certainly in today’s world, a little optimism can go a long way.”

RU students performing in the play, which is part of the programming for Family Weekend and the Radford Highlanders Festival, are junior Rachel Blankenship of Patrick County, senior Rachael Lang of Virginia Beach, junior Ryan McGaughey of Ashburn, and senior Stephen Whitney of Vienna. The production team includes senior Cate Brink of Springfield, sophomore Charlene Lennon of Manassas and sophomore Stephen Low of Emporia.

Admission is RU faculty and staff $5, general public $8, RU students with I.D. free, senior citizens 55 and over $5 and groups of 10 or more $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Porterfield Box Office noon to 6 p.m.
