Voiceover: You Say You Want a Revolution …

July 9th, 2008 · No Comments

You perhaps got the hint from my last Hit or Miss column that I am no fan of the Bush administration. I bought one of those rubber bracelets at the Building a New World conference in Radford that supports impeaching Bush and Cheney. I think their crimes against the people of the Impeach BushUnited States and the Constitution are numerable and have done a whole lot more harm to the country—and the world—than Bill Clinton lying about his Oval Office indiscretions (which were amazingly stupid and showed a stunning lack of judgment, but thousands of people didn’t die).

So it was with great interest that I got an e-mail today from a friend running for Congress in Virginia’s 4th District. Andrea Miller brought to my attention the fact that on Thursday evening, U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) will bring a resolution to the House with a single Article of Impeachment of President Bush for taking our nation and our troops to war based on lies. Personally I would include an array of other charges, so I think Kucinich is going easy on Bush.

You can view the letter Kucinich sent to his colleagues here. For those of us here in the New River Valley, I would encourage you to speak up about this. We’ve sat quiet for too long as our “leaders” run roughshod over us and the Constitution. If you support this action by Kucinich and want impeachment proceedings to move forward, then contact Rep. Rick Boucher and let him know that you want him to represent you on this matter. Contact Boucher at NINTHNET@mail.house.gov or at 540.980.4310.

Also, Kucinich offers an online petition you can sign here. We all say that we want change. We all say to “Throw the bums out.” But when it comes to taking action, most of us sit back and let the streamroller of power and greed by our governmental officials to roll right over us. Now is a great time to take action and put some action behind your words.

So thanks, Andrea, for the heads up, and I hope your campaign is going well. And I encourage YOU, a reader of the New River Voice, to stand up, take action, and right what has gone so very, very wrong.
